Buying the old way vs. TrueKitten
Most purebred kittens are still sold through classifieds and social-media groups. Here's what changes when the sale happens on TrueKitten.
Seller identity
- Typical classifieds / social-media sale
- An anonymous profile you take on faith.
- On TrueKitten
- Every breeder in our catalog is identity-verified before their kittens can appear.
Health testing
- Typical classifieds / social-media sale
- Screenshots and promises.
- On TrueKitten
- Health documents are authenticated against their issuing registries and matched to the cat they cover.
Your money
- Typical classifieds / social-media sale
- A wire or Zelle transfer — gone the moment you hit send.
- On TrueKitten
- Held in escrow until you confirm pickup with a one-time PIN — the breeder is paid after.
The agreement
- Typical classifieds / social-media sale
- A DM thread.
- On TrueKitten
- The listing’s sale contract, shown before you offer and signed before payment.
If it goes wrong
- Typical classifieds / social-media sale
- Nothing.
- On TrueKitten
- A resolution process backed by the funds held for that transaction.
